ICAN marks the third anniversary of October 7 with a commitment to remembrance, precise political data, and sustained community advocacy.
We will not forget.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas-led terrorists attacked Israel, killing approximately 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages into Gaza. Families were attacked in their homes. Young people were attacked at a music festival. Israelis, Americans, and people from other nations were among the victims.
Three years later, ICAN honors those murdered. We stand with survivors and bereaved families, and remember the suffering of everyone taken hostage. We honor those who defended their communities and saved lives. Time does not lessen the loss. Remembrance demands action.
October 7 deepened ICAN's resolve. It pushed us to build the political strength our community needs. Decisions in schools, city halls, state legislatures, and elections affect our safety, rights, and future. We must be organized enough to shape them.
That work starts with facts. We are committed to advocacy built on precise political data: documented votes, public statements, legislation, campaign finance, and the relationships behind decisions. We judge leaders by their actions and records, distinguish evidence from assertion, and demand accountability.
The United States is polarized. Antisemitic violence and intimidation threaten our community. As Americans approach the midterm elections, candidates and elected officials must answer for their records. Promises are not enough. Our safety, equal rights, and the U.S.–Israel alliance require sustained political action.
ICAN will carry political intelligence into community organizing, legislative advocacy, and electoral accountability at the state and local levels. Our work confronts antisemitism and discriminatory double standards, protects students' safety and equal access to education, and defends accurate Holocaust and history education. We will advance equal opportunity and public safety, and build partnerships that strengthen American–Israeli cooperation.
Three years later, we carry the memory of those murdered into our work for a strong America, a secure Israel, and a community with the power to shape its own future. That responsibility endures.
May the memory of those murdered be a blessing. Let our actions honor them.
