ICAN Endorses Russell Stuart for Beverly Hills Unified School District Board
The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (ICAN) proudly endorses Russell Stuart for the Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) Board. With his extensive background in security, leadership, and community service, Stuart is uniquely positioned to enhance the safety and quality of education for students in Beverly Hills. His focus on creating a safe, inclusive, and high-performing school environment aligns strongly with ICAN’s mission.
Stuart’s career spans 25 years in security, military service, and business, including his time as a Captain in the California State Guard. As a local businessman and parent of a child in the Beverly Hills school system, his personal stake in the district drives his commitment to ensure every child is protected and supported. Stuart’s leadership experience gives him the tools to improve both academic standards and security protocols across the district.
Russell Stuart shares ICAN’s priorities, particularly regarding the safety and inclusion of Jewish students. He has expressed support for preventing antisemitism within the district to protect students, educating staff on Jewish identity, and strengthening Holocaust education in the curriculum, recognizing Jewish American Heritage, and ensuring that antisemitic incidents are reported and addressed effectively. His dedication to building a safe and inclusive educational environment will benefit all students and families in the district.
The Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) serves around 3,000 students across five schools: Beverly Hills High School (Grades 9-12), Beverly Vista Middle School (K-8), and three elementary schools, Hawthorne, Horace Mann, and El Rodeo, which cater to students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. The BHUSD Board consists of five elected members, responsible for overseeing district policies, budget allocation, and the administration of educational programs across all schools within the district. The district is known for maintaining small class sizes, with a student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 14:1.
The BHUSD Board election is scheduled for November 5, 2024. There are three seats available, and ICAN encourages Beverly Hills voters to support Russell Stuart.
