ICAN Endorses Judith Manouchehri and David Cienfuegos for Beverly Hills School Board

ICAN endorses Judith Manouchehri for reelection and David Cienfuegos for election to the Beverly Hills school board, emphasizing protection from antisemitism, academic achievement, student safety, and public accountability.

The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (ICAN) endorses Judith “Judy” Manouchehri for reelection and David Cienfuegos for election to the Beverly Hills Unified School District Board of Education on November 3, 2026. ICAN’s endorsements pair Manouchehri’s documented support for Israel and action against antisemitism with Cienfuegos’s emphasis on rigorous academics, student safety, and public accountability.

Manouchehri, the current board president, supported the district’s 2023 resolution in support of Israel and against antisemitism. In August 2025, she seconded and voted for a further resolution addressing antisemitism through education, awareness, remembrance, and support. Its educational provisions included Holocaust remembrance and instruction, Jewish history education, October 7 remembrance, and staff development. It also adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s working definition of antisemitism and its examples for educational and professional development purposes, expressly subject to constitutional protections.

ICAN’s support for Manouchehri reflects the importance of those decisions. School leaders must recognize antisemitism, protect Jewish and Israeli-American students from discrimination, and ensure that Holocaust education remains accurate and accessible.

Cienfuegos, a new candidate for the board, is a trial attorney and the father of three BHUSD students. His school involvement includes service on the Horace Mann Principal’s Advisory Council. His campaign calls for stronger instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and history; earlier help for students who struggle; and greater opportunities for advanced learning. He supports close coordination with local law enforcement on campus safety and greater transparency in curriculum, spending, and board decisions.

For ICAN, strong public education includes the knowledge to recognize prejudice, the confidence to challenge misinformation, and the protection every student needs to learn. These endorsements advance ICAN’s commitment to electoral accountability at the local level, where school-board decisions directly affect students and families.

ICAN encourages voters to reelect Judith Manouchehri and elect David Cienfuegos on November 3.
