ACTION ALERT: Urge Your Elected Officials to Denounce the NEA’s Antisemitic Resolution
Why This Matters
- UPDATE: NEA leadership intervened: Following review, the Executive Committee and Board of Directors voted to reject the boycott resolution, limiting its harmful impact and preserving access to ADL materials for schools and teachers who choose to use them.
-
NEA voted to sever ties with Jewish-affiliated groups like the ADL — based solely on religion and ethnicity. That’s discriminatory and unconstitutional.
-
This violates federal law — including the Equal Protection Clause and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which prohibit discrimination based on religion or national origin.
-
Antisemitism is surging — ADL data shows over 400% increase in U.S. antisemitic incidents after October 7, 2023.
-
Jewish teachers and students are under threat — reports of intimidation, exclusion, and harassment are rising in K–12 classrooms.
-
Elected officials must condemn this now — silence is complicity when a national teachers union targets Jews for exclusion.
Background
The National Education Association (NEA) crossed a red line last week — and we need our elected leaders to speak out.
In July 2025, the NEA’s Representative Assembly voted to sever ties with Jewish-affiliated organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), based solely on their perceived religious and ethnic identity.
This discriminatory action is not only unconstitutional — it’s dangerous.
Why this matters:
- Hate crimes against Jews are at record highs — antisemitic incidents in the U.S. surged over 400% following October 7, 2023 (ADL).
- K-12 students and educators are being directly targeted — Jewish teachers are reporting harassment, intimidation, and exclusion across the country.
- Discriminating based on religious or ethnic identity violates the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
