The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (ICAN) is proud to announce our endorsement of Dela Peykar Ronen for the Beverly Hills Unified School District Board. Dela’s unwavering commitment to combating antisemitism, promoting Holocaust education, and standing firmly against the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement aligns with ICAN’s mission to strengthen the U.S.-Israel alliance and protect Jewish communities.
As a dedicated community leader, attorney, and mother of three, Dela has shown a deep understanding of the challenges facing our schools. Her advocacy for inclusive educational policies that celebrate Jewish and Israeli heritage, coupled with her active role in supporting Israel through various initiatives, makes her an ideal candidate to foster a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
Dela shares ICAN's vision for a stronger, more inclusive school district and and we commend her commitment to ensuring that future generations are educated about the dangers of antisemitism and the importance of cultural understanding.
The Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) serves around 3,000 students across five schools: Beverly Hills High School (Grades 9-12), Beverly Vista Middle School (K-8), and three elementary schools, Hawthorne, Horace Mann, and El Rodeo, which cater to students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. The BHUSD Board consists of five elected members, responsible for overseeing district policies, budget allocation, and the administration of educational programs across all schools within the district. The district is known for maintaining small class sizes, with a student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 14:1.
The BHUSD Board election is scheduled for November 5, 2024. There are three seats available, and ICAN encourages Beverly Hills voters to support Dela Peykar Ronen.
