ICAN Condemns the Murder of Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin and Five Others by Hamas Terrorists, Supports Continued Action to Free Remaining Hostages
The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (ICAN) is devastated by the breaking news that Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American citizen, was murdered by Hamas terrorists. His body, along with those of five other hostages, was just discovered in a tunnel beneath Rafah in Gaza. This heinous act of terrorism underscores the urgent need for decisive international action.
Hersh, a 23-year-old dual Israeli-American citizen, was abducted on October 7, 2023, during the brutal Hamas attack at the Nova music festival. Despite suffering grievous injuries, including the loss of his arm, Hersh displayed incredible resilience by applying a tourniquet to his own wound. The discovery of his body today confirms the worst fears of his family and the international community.
“Hersh Goldberg-Polin was murdered in cold blood by Hamas terrorists,” said Dillon Hosier, CEO of ICAN. “This is not just a tragedy; it is a crime that demands a forceful response from the global community. We call on all nations to stand with Israel and support its continued actions to ensure the hostages are released and the Hamas threat is eliminated.”
ICAN calls on the United States and the international community to continue to increase pressure on Hamas and its supporters. The tragic murders of Hersh and other hostages should galvanize efforts to eliminate these threats and protect the innocent.
ICAN reaffirms its commitment to advocating for the safety and security of Israeli-Americans and for bringing those who commit such acts of terror to justice. We will not rest until every hostage is returned home and the perpetrators and their supporters are held accountable.
The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (ICAN) is the only organization that brings together Israeli and American activists to create change for a better America, a more secure Israel, and a stronger U.S.-Israel alliance. ICAN works with community leaders, elected officials, and grassroots organizations to strengthen the bond between the United States and Israel at all levels of government through civic education, advocacy, and public engagement. It also promotes policies that support the Israeli-American community and foster mutual understanding. With a focus on policy leadership and strategic engagement, ICAN is committed to empowering Israeli-American activists and pro-Israel Americans to take an active role in shaping public policy.
