Los Angeles, California: The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (ICAN) has endorsed Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell for reelection to the Los Angeles City Council.

The City of Los Angeles is home to the largest Israeli immigrant population outside of Israel, including an estimated 250,000 first and second-generation Israelis across Southern California.

“Councilmember O’Farrell has been a consistent friend to Israeli and Jewish Angelenos,” said Vered Elkouby Nisim, ICAN California Chairwoman. “He has stood with us against antisemitism, fought for fair and inclusive ethnic studies, and stood strong against the discriminatory movement to boycott our homeland, Israel.”

ICAN evaluated candidates based on their policies related to enhancing public safety, combating antisemitism, and supporting policies that protect Israeli immigrants from national origin discrimination.

“Through good times and difficult days, Councilmember O’Farrell has been there for L.A.’s Israeli community,” said Dillon Hosier, CEO at ICAN. “With antisemitism, national origin discrimination, and other forms of hate on the rise, we need Mitch back in the Los Angeles City Council.”[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”210374”]What our endorsement means:

ICAN is the only bipartisan Jewish / pro-Israel Israeli-American advocacy organization that endorses candidates at all levels of government and during primaries. ICAN supports candidates who generally believe:

1. The rise in antisemitism is unacceptable and new policy solutions need to be considered to fight this rising tide of hatred targeting Jews and Israelis.

2. The special relationship between our home, the United States, our homeland, Israel must be protected, strengthened, and deepened, including with state and local partners.

3. That Israeli-Americans, like any immigrant community, deserve the right to celebrate our heritage and connect with our culture free from bias and bigotry.

ICAN promotes the candidates we endorse to relevant constituencies, provide opportunities for candidates and voters to meet and connect, and host important voter registration activities to ensure everyone eligible to vote supports our preferred candidates.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”140603″]The Israeli-American Civic Action Network is dedicated to empowering Israeli immigrants and American allies to create change for a better America, a more secure Israel, and a stronger U.S. – Israel alliance through advocacy education and civic action.
